Wanna Go Back

Wanna Go Back
Wanna go back
Wanna go back
To where I was at
Wanna go back
Tommy gun gone yes him meet him demise
Undah di bridge wid no prying eyes
In the fair city of San Buenaventura
Down by the beach
Ay que locura!
Two piece a wood mek a cross
Nail it up good
Rain and di wind run fast
Write “rest in peace” mek it short
RIP mi no wah no duppy in mi yard!
Wanna go back
Wanna go back
To where I was at
Wanna go back
Wi gonna mek another Haiti wid some big Pappa Docs
Leapfroggin’ leaders while dem linnin’ dem pockets?
I’m not wavin’ a bloody shirt
History repeat
little man always get hurt
Bidabombi bidabombi lailalalalei
Old world melody
Slave-ship rhythm in the holy hymnal today
Wanna go back to the mother
Back to the sea
Where we all long to be
Back to where the sun hits the blowing trees
Wanna go back
To the pothole backhole streets of Trelawney
Wanna go back
Cool wind in my hair
to where I was at
We all come from some place, maybe the same place
Wanna go back
Oh I’ll go there with you
Wanna go back
like the salmon do, like the birds do
Wanna go back
Cool wind in my hair
Where I was at
I wanna go back

Shoulda Coulda Woulda
04:03
|
|||
Maybe I shouldn't have thrown away
Those pictures and cards and letters and things
Cuz now I find I can't recall
Just who I am or where I've been
I’m too young to be old
Too old to be told
Maybe I shouldn't have
Maybe I should have put away
Paper and coin for a rainy day
But what I want is what I need
At least that's always how it seems
There's no stoppin' me
When the doggy in the window is callin' my name
Maybe I should have left him be
Maybe I could have walked away
When trouble came 'round callin' my name
Coulda just never gone and shown my face
When the sun hit noon and sealed my fate
Hubris is a nail
Last one in the coffin in this sad, sad tale
Maybe I could have walked away
Maybe I would have found my way
If the ground was even and the lights were paid
But the cards get dealt and the game is done
Before you know it and it wasn't no fun
Depends on who is saying
What's done is done or maybe it's all changing
Maybe I would have found my way

Hawaii
04:05
|
|||
I'm dreaming of
Golden shores
Light breeze on my face
And sand between my toes
While I sleep
Oh when I awake
A symphony of blowing leaves and crashing waves awaits
Half empty or half full
Go with the latter and life is much better
Everyone knows that's true
So I'm coming to you
I'm coming to you
I'm dreaming
I'm dreaming of
I'm dreaming of that great Hawaii sun
I'm dreaming
I'm dreaming of
I'm dreaming of that great Hawaii sun
How much longer must I be deprived of this dream?
I know in reality there's an ocean between me and she
But eventually you will see that
No amount of obstacle will I avoid to tackle tackle
If it means I'm ending up next to you
Watching the sky change from orange to blue
I'm dreaming
I'm dreaming of
I'm dreaming of that great Hawaii sun
I'm dreaming
I'm dreaming of
I'm dreaming of that great Hawaii sun
Sunrise, sunset and everything between
Wake up when you want
Sleep when you feel
I love this dream
I love this dream!

This Side of Happy
04:57
|
|||
Another long drive to another big city
Gas tank ain't full
Wallet is skinny so pull over here and park
I see some people chilling in the sun let's play some music from the heart
While you're at it leave the guitar case open
Remember that time just outside of Oakland?
$200 in an hour and a half cuz people know what's real
And real is really where we're at!
Whohoho!
Hold the phone
Ain't it nice to just be alone
I am definitely on this side of happy
Whohoho!
On the street
Got that smile that you like to meet
I am definitely on this side of happy
Got my running shoes on walkman strapped to me
People always laughing, saying that it's funny
But I like these things from the past
The future's downloading all around us too fast
Besides, if I went and missed the side B
I might miss the party
No one would know which one is for me but me
Can't you see I could be running 'round the street thinking there's some kind of conspiracy
Whohoho!
Hold the phone
Ain't it nice to just be alone
I am definitely on this side of happy
Whohoho!
On the street
Got that smile that you like to meet
I am definitely on this side of happy
Why you trying so hard to be the winner?
Don't you know it all works out?
I know it's hard to just keep lying here watching it all fall apart!

Walking with a Poison
04:30
|
|||
I am walking through the park with a poison in my hand
up ahead a big commotion, words I cannot understand
but I hear what's underneath and it makes me cry inside
they are walking with their poisons as am I
and the leaves upon the trees hang heavy to the ground
and the sky above is muddy, turned the deepest color brown
and I never know if it's me or this hard and lonely town
I am walking with my poison here and now
as my body calms from shivers my mind is cleared of clouds
and the jealous angry voices in my head are not as loud
but it only takes a short while for the pain to start coming out
I've been walking with my poison for a long, long time
some people grab another's hands and some people walk alone
some people turn their stories into fables that are sold
as for me I've done it all, not one has made me whole
I am walking with my poison, I just wanted you to know

Hey Now
03:49
|
|||
used to drive fast now I drive slow
used to crave cash now I got soul
couldn't catch a break now I'm on a roll
it was a pack a day now I don't smoke
I was a drive-though eater now all my grains are whole
only problem is, now is so hard to hold
hey now, you gonna stay with me?
hey now, we can do anything
hey now, you say you wanna change
well hey now, woh uh wowuh hey now
well my woman was mad, she said the things I said were cruel
my family was worried, they said, "hey man why you always playing the fool?"
now their eyes light up with pride
I've gone and changed my tune
whiling the hours away, TV, coffee, cigarettes
hey we all wanna cope but h=each moment can give over to regret
lucky for me and you each day is so new just reach over press reset
well I used to drive slow and now I drive fast
used to have soul, now I'm craving that cash again

This Boy Loves You
03:21
|
|||
This boy loves you
This boy loves you
You know he loves you
you hear him say it every night
and he’s only
and he’s only
and he’s only gonna tell you for the rest of his life
we said some things that we did not mean to say
I don’t know how we got there
But I know that we’ll get to the other side
After a storm the air is sweet
And you can see for miles and miles
Like I can see you now
Like I can see you now
This boy loves you
This boy loves you
You know he loves you
you hear him say it every night
and he’s only
and he’s only
and he’s only gonna tell you for the rest of his life
I done some things that I did not mean to do
You acted like you didn’t care
But you and me always get to the other side
After a storm the air is sweet
And you can see for miles and miles
Like I can see you now
Like I can see you now

Raise it up High
04:11
|
|||
raise it up high
your brother wouldn't lie to you
this one's for all ya'll back a yard
there's a jewel of a rock
south of Cuba where my heart is now and forevermore
No mattah where you from
no mattah how they raise you up
by the end of this song goh raise your cup
99% sweat and 1% luck
but don't forget to tear it up
they can preach a brighter day
promise us a better way
but in the end it's you and me who gotta roll our sleeves and say!
now I'm sendin' out a chord for my island nation that's torn
strung up on the rack between the past and what is born
(in the) minds of the masses - hatred buildin' like gasses
so why we always playin' with matches?
they can preach a brighter day
promise us a better way
but it's you and me who gotta roll our sleeves and say!
